PRINCETON, N.J. – June 29, 2016 – NRG Energy today announced the winners of its sixthannual Howard E. Cosgrove Academic Scholarship. Since its inception in 2011, twenty five students have been awarded more than $1 million in scholarships. This year, four winnerswere selected due to their overwhelming accomplishments as high school students.

"Each Cosgrove Scholarship winner is a role model in their community for their dedication toacademics and their commitment to volunteerism," said Jennifer Wallace, SVP,Administration, who oversees the program at NRG. "NRG is proud to invest in America'sfuture leaders by awarding this scholarship to these exemplary students."

The competitive scholarship is open to college-bound high school seniors who have a parentworking as a full time employee at NRG. This year's winners hail from California, NewJersey, Texas and Virginia. The scholarship, which is named after NRG's Chairman of theBoard, Howard Cosgrove, is awarded based on merit and selections are made by anindependent committee. Each winner will be awarded $15,000 per year, with a total of up to$60,000, to complete their undergraduate degrees, subject to certain academicrequirements.

The 2016 NRG Cosgrove Scholarship recipients are:

 Laetitia Coustar of Los Angeles, California
 Callan Cramer of McLean, Virginia
 Cameron Egger of Needville, Texas
