Minneapolis-based NRG Celebrates Phenomenal Growth and Success with 10th Anniversary Event

What:
NRG Energy, Inc. will mark its 10th anniversary on Friday, August 6 with an event celebrating its rapid growth and international prominence in the field of power generation. NRG is a wholly owned development unit of Northern States Power Company (NSP). Its core business is as an Independent Power Producer (IPP) utilizing diverse fuels and alternative energy.

This anniversary event is a three-part "progressive party" which celebrates NRG's global progress in three major operating regions: the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The event begins at 4 p.m. at NRG Headquarters -- representing The Americas. At approximately 5:30 p.m. guests will be escorted across Nicollet Mall to the outdoor deck and English garden of Brit's Pub -- representing Europe -- to enjoy entertainment, food and refreshments. At 7 p.m. guests are led onto a custom-designed enchanted island in the middle of Peavey Plaza pond -- Down Under -- for genuine outback hospitality and a short program.

Friday, August 6, 1999 at 4:00 p.m.

Where:
The 3-part progressive party reflects NRG's presence in three global operating regions:

The Americas:
4:00 p.m. at NRG Headquarters (1221 Nicollet Mall)
Europe:
5:30 p.m. on the rooftop of Brit's Pub
Asia-Pacific:
7:00 p.m. on the island of Australia in the middle of Peavey Pond

Photo Opportunity:
Guests are expected from around the globe. Chairman, President and CEO, David H. Peterson, will also be available for photographs and to answer questions.
