NRG Energy Inc. Opens New Corporate Headquarters in Central New Jersey

WEST WINDSOR, N.J., Jan 19, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NRG), a wholesale power generation company, today officially opened its corporate headquarters in West Windsor, New Jersey. The New York Stock Exchange-listed company, relocated from Minneapolis, Minnesota, bringing 230 new professional jobs to central New Jersey.

In March, the Company announced it planned to move its headquarters to the northeast from Minnesota in order to be closer to its primary power facilities and better serve the Company's stakeholders. A substantial portion of NRG's assets are located in the Northeast.

"We are glad to call New Jersey our new home," said David Crane, NRG Energy President and Chief Executive Officer. "The state's central location near our assets, its excellent transportation and education systems along with its competitive business incentive programs made it an attractive place for us to do business."

The Company showcased its new headquarters with an open house for employees, local business people, government officials and community leaders. The program featured remarks from David Crane, West Windsor Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh and State Treasurer, John McCormac.

NRG Energy, Inc. owns and operates a diverse portfolio of power-generating facilities, primarily in the Northeast, South Central and West Coast regions of the United States. Its operations include baseload, intermediate, peaking, and cogeneration facilities, thermal energy production and energy resource recovery facilities. NRG also has ownership interests in generating facilities in Australia and Germany.
